# What’s the best follow-up strategy?

The short answer: **be the one who follows up**—because most people won’t. 

The best strategy uses **multiple touchpoints**: 
* **Phone calls** to build rapport 
* **Direct mail** to stay visible with multi-touch mail campaigns with variations in envelope style/color, marketing materials (i.e. postcards), mailing inserts, etc. 
* **Email or SMS** to stay top of mind and follow-up. Also great for re-engaging with those you have already spoken to.
